Home sweet home

The bees have been transferred into a new hive and have been given a feed of sugar syrup. This, or so some sources will tell you, is so that they can spend more time collecting pollen and less collecting nectar. The pollen is a protein-rich food for the developing bees (brood). So far they have shown no interest in the syrup but are still very busy bringing in at least three types of pollen.

The pollen in the left-hand image below may be Oilseed Rape, not 100% sure, and the right-hand image shows bees with Blackberry pollen. They are also bringing in a bright yellow pollen.
